Chicago-based Upton’s Naturals (uptonsnaturals.com) teamed with The Buona Companies to create Plant-Based Chicago Italian Beef & Gravy. Made from Upton’s thinly sliced and seasoned seitan, the fully cooked, heat-and-eat frozen product allows consumers to recreate a plant-based sandwich that’s become a popular Buona menu item. The 100% vegan “beef” is soaked in savory gravy made with vegetable-based broth and olive oil that delivers the same juiciness as beef fat. Each serving contains 36 grams of protein. SRP is $7.49 for a two-serving, 17-ounce package (four per case).
