Oklahoma City-based Western Flyer Xpress (WFX), owned by Diamond T Holdings, announced last month that it has acquired the assets of Indiana Western Xpress (IWX), Springfield, Mo. According to a report by industry trade publication FreightWaves, IWX will operate as a standalone subsidiary, IWX Motor Freight.

The newly acquired company brings more than 250 tractors, 350 reefer trailers and a high percentage of team drivers to the deal — plus three terminals and two secure drop-yards — which will allow its new owner to “quickly expand our footprint in the refrigerated market,” per a published e-mail from WFX CEO Randy Timms. However, WFX has also outlined “an aggressive growth plan” for its new subsidiary, including fleet expansion through the acquisition of additional assets
