Addition planned for Laredo 1, a 6.6 million-cubic-foot facility opened in 2018. Company already has two other PRWs within 10 or 15 miles.

Camden, N.J.-based United States Cold Storage (USCS) plans to expand its third public refrigerated Warehouse in Laredo, Texas. The three-year-old facility is between Laredo’s two most important and busiest bridge crossings with Mexico: The World Trade Bridge and the Columbia Solidarity Bridge.
USCS’ Phase One building, called Laredo 1, is a 6.6 million-cubic-foot operation with refrigerated and frozen storage and handling capabilities. It sits on 35 acres with room to nearly triple the operation’s size and capacity. At full build, the PRW will have about 60 dock doors and 70,000 pallet positions with frozen, refrigerated and customer-defined temperature capacity.
USCS has served the Laredo market area for more than 40 years, says George Cruz, USCS senior vp-Southern region. He adds that the addition will support customers’ needs for additional space.
USCS has two additional Laredo sites 10 to 15 miles away. One specializes in export meat inspections and another handles frozen distribution imports.
Two of the USCS Laredo sites have rail access and together they provide related border services including import/export handling, repack, product blending, tempering, grading and quality inspections. Between all three locations, USCS handles products across all frozen, refrigerated and ambient temperatures.
For its part, Laredo One already offers special cross-dock shipping and large receiving areas, ample yard for drop-trailers, and state-of-the-art refrigeration and material handling systems.
USCS offers more than 373 million cubic feet of temperature-controlled warehouse and distribution space in 43 facilities located in 13 states. A subsidiary of the U.K.’s John Swire & Sons Ltd., it is the third-largest PRW logistics provider in North America.
