During the 12 weeks ended Oct. 4, sales of frozen foods in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined topped $15.29 billion, up 19.3% versus the same period a year ago, according to Chicago-based market research firm IRI (iriworldwide.com). Unit sales shot up 11.6% to 3.80 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended Oct. 4, dollars jumped 18.5% to $65.61 billion while units rose 11.6% to 16.56 billion.
