Consumers receive the most nutrition misinformation from social media “influencers,” followed by
friends and family, and then by celebrities (a close third). That’s according to a survey of 1,173 registered dietitian nutritionists by Pollock Communications and Today’s Dietitian. The top three platforms for this misinformation? Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. According to other research in the 10th Annual What’s Trending in Nutrition, nutritionists expect top purchase drivers this year will be foods and beverages that: 1) support immunity; 2) are affordable and value-based and 3) promote comfort and emotional well-being.
