In the six weeks ended Jan. 9, in-stock rates in stores averaged 87% for frozen foods and 88% for refrigerated, according to the CPG Supply Index from IRI, the Chicago-based market research firm. That’s about on par with — or a point or two better than — the average for edible groceries. Non-edibles have had average in-stocks of about 92% during the same period, says IRI. And what’s been showing higher out-of-stocks lately? Alcoholic beverages and tobacco. (Can’t imagine why, can you?)
