Five Frozen & Refrigerated Buyer staff members have earned one national award and five regional awards for editorial or artistic excellence in competition run by the American Society of Business Publication Editors. The Azbee awards were for material published in 2022.
Editorial director Denise Leathers won a bronze national award for her group profile, Young Guns, about up and coming executives in the industry.
It was the third national award for Leathers, who previously won gold and silver honors.
Regional awards went to: contributing editor Bob Anderson, the retired vp/gmm at Walmart, who earned gold honors for his column, Just Sayin’; contributing editor Don Stuart, managing partner at Cadent Consulting Group, Wilton, Conn., who won silver for his columns, Profit from Plants; Leathers, who took home a silver award for Young Guns; editor emeritus Warren Thayer, who earned silver for his columns in The Endcap at the back of the magazine; and art director Betty Vandenberg, who took home a bronze for her cover on “The Changing Face of the Plant-Based Consumer.”
“It’s a pleasure to be part of such a strong and talented team,” Leathers says. “F&R Buyer has been a consistent winner in these competitions each year, and our thanks goes out to industry leaders who have been so supportive of our efforts.”
“We’ve been earning these awards since Warren and I started the magazine in 2009. Such recognition has helped F&R Buyer become the recognized market leader in the industry, in both sales and thought leadership,” says Paul Chapa, sales director and managing partner.
