Thanks to a $500 million investment from an undisclosed capital partner, Envision Cold launched its new cold chain platform last month. Founded in Atlanta last year, the startup will use the infusion of cash to acquire and develop more than $1.5 billion in cold storage assets across North America, primarily in underserved markets lacking both cold storage infrastructure and customer service. Envision says it expects to “revolutionize the industry” by offering an array of services along the entire cold chain, including traditional cold storage, import/export services, transportation and blast freezing.
“The magnitude of this investment was driven by the strength of not only our team’s commitment to innovation and service but also to the opportunity within the market itself,” says Envision CEO Austin Solem. “The cold storage industry is stronger than ever, but it needs more national providers to satisfy the increasing demand.”
Envision has already acquired cold storage operations and assets in Oakland and San Francisco, Calif.; Laredo, Texas; and Vancouver.
