Mid-Tier Frozen
During the 12 weeks ended June 18, sales of frozen foods in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined hit $17.96 billion,
up 3.9% compared with the same period a year ago, according to Chicago-based market research firm Circana, formerly IRI and The NPD Group. However, unit sales fell 4.6% to 3.50 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended June 18, dollar sales shot up 7.9% to $77.96 billion while units tumbled 5.1% to 15.51 billion.

Note that, instead of reporting sales for multiple individual brands that fall under the same parent brand, Circana is now combining them into a single “brand franchise.” Only brand franchises with at least $250,000 in sales during the period are listed.

Sales of refrigerated foods in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined totaled $31.80 billion during the 12 weeks ended June 18, up 3.0% versus the same period a year ago, reports Chicago-based market research firm Circana, formerly IRI and The NPD Group. However, unit sales fell 2.3% to 7.81 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended June 18, dollar sales shot up 10.1% to $142.47 billion while units dropped 3.0% to 34.84 billion.
