WHY TRADER JOE’S SAYS ‘NO THANKS’ TO ONLINE

Trader Joe’s said on its monthly podcast that it wants no part of jumping on the online shopping bandwagon. The retailer thinks it’s an added expense and would take focus off providing shoppers with value. What’s more, it would be impossible to replicate its in-store treasure hunt if it were also online. As one exec put it, “Free shipping doesn’t really exist.” The retailer did offer delivery in New York City for ten years, but stopped in March 2019.
