Atlanta-based Arcadia Cold Storage & Logistics broke ground last month on the fifth new site announced by the rapidly expanding company in the past year. Strategically located 10 miles from the Port of Jacksonville (Fla.), Jacksonville Cold Storage is the first Arcadia facility that will focus on port-based, “port-to-plate” handling services. Expected to open in early 2024, it will offer more than 30,000 pallet positions across 216,297 square feet with enough blast freezing capacity to freeze more than 6 million pounds of food per week.
“As a start-up, Arcadia aims to challenge the status quo and offer customer service levels and facility quality that go beyond what the market currently has to offer,” said the company in a news release. “With 70% of the 3PL space managed by three large companies, Arcadia is committed to providing a fresh approach and a superior customer experience.”
