A former chair of the National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA), Sgro has spent 39 years in the industry, rising from an administrative position to vice president of merchandising and procurement. “I had wonderful mentors that helped me at every step of my career,” she says. “And I feel I should repay that to others.” As a result, nothing gives her more satisfaction than helping an associate get to the next level. Sgro is also a big supporter of those serving in the military as well as first responders and is always looking for ways to support the folks who put their lives at risk every day.
Although she’s achieved a lot of success in a male-dominated industry, Sgro says she never felt like she did or did not get a job because of her gender. Man or woman, “I believe that if you work hard and do the best you can, the opportunities will come your way.”
