When she realized frozen cranberries that consumers could enjoy year-round simply didn’t exist, Rhodes decided to bring the product to market herself. But again and again, she was told by those in the industry, “It’ll never happen!” Little did they know that their skepticism was what helped make Rhodes’ dream a reality. Thirteen years later, Cape Cod Select frozen cranberries are sold at more than 5,000 stores nationwide.
“My advice to women is to believe in yourself and be passionate in whatever you do,” says Rhodes. “Walt Disney said, ‘When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.’” That’s her philosophy as well.
The mother of three healthy children and three healthy grandchildren, Rhodes is a big supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which provides free care for children with cancer. But in 2023, her goal is to partner with World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to those impacted by humanitarian, climate and community crises.
