Lindsey Hickey recently led Simek’s through a rebrand and major retailer expansions, resulting in its becoming the fastest-growing frozen lasagna and frozen meatball brand in the country. All this, while feeding millions of people in need along the way. In 2017, Hickey fostered a relationship with Feeding America to launch One Gives One, a hunger-relief program. “For every product purchased, we donate a meal to the local Feeding America food bank,” she says. Two years ago, she led Simek’s partnership with rePurpose Global to fund the removal of as much ocean-bound plastic as was used in the packaging and shipping of the company’s products, making them certified plastic neutral.
Last year, the company donated more than 2.8 million meals and removed more than 116,000 pounds of plastic. Simek’s just became the only woman-owned frozen food brand in the United States to earn B corporation certification. In her free time (?), Hickey volunteers for Wishes and More, a charity providing children fighting a terminal or life-threatening condition with extraordinary experiences.
