JULIA TANKERSLEY WELLS
VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING SERVICES, THE PICTSWEET COMPANY
Pictsweet, a family-owned company, was founded by Wells’ father, J.O. Tankersley. Her career has been a lifelong commitment to the company and the frozen vegetable industry. She began working for Pictsweet at age 16 as a product inspector on the processing line.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee, she returned to the company where she is still actively involved. Wells has been an active member of the American Frozen Food Institute where she served as chairman; The Food Industry Association (FMI), where she serves as a board member of the FMI Foundation; and the National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association. She is a member of the Zerocrats and was inducted into the Frozen Food Hall of Fame.
Away from Pictsweet, Wells has served as the chairwoman for the Volunteer Girls State program for 25 years. Girls State gives high school girls the opportunity to learn how they can positively affect their communities at home through active citizenship.
