Sales of frozen products in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined hit $17.53 billion during the 12 weeks ended Dec. 4, up 10.6% compared with the same period a year ago, according to Chicago-based market research firm IRI (iriworldwide.com). However, unit sales tumbled 5.1% to 3.53 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended Dec. 4, dollar sales shot up 8.3% to $75.52 billion while unit sales fell 5.0% to 15.95 billion.

FASTEST REFRIGERATED
During the 12 weeks ended Dec. 4, sales of refrigerated products in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined topped $33.12 billion, a 13.6% increase versus the same period a year ago, reports Chicago-based market research firm IRI (iriworldwide.com). However, unit sales fell 2.8% to 8.11 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended Dec. 4,
dollar sales jumped 11.0% to $136.88 billion while units dropped 2.7% to 35.39 billion.
