New Products to look out for in the New Year

Marinated Bacon

Phoenix-based Sigma U.S. brings the pre-marinated meat trend to the bacon category. Created in conjunction with th e maker of some of the country’s best-selling marinades, co-branded McCormick Grill Mates Marinated Bacon comes in two robust flavors: Ultimate Bacon and Smoky Applewood. Marinated and then smoked, the thick-cut slices come in 12-ounce packages (24 per case). SRP is $4.99 to $5.99.

 

Frozen Wild-Caught Shrimp

Los Angeles-based Del Pacifico Seafoods (delpacificoseafoods.com) debuts three new Wild-Caught Mexican Blue Shrimp SKUs. Available now at Whole Foods, the 100% traceable, Fair Trade Certified frozen lineup includes 21/25 IQF Easy Peel and 31/40 Peeled & De-veined Tail-On varieties (both in 12-ounce bags) as well as Wild Blue Shrimp Burgers hand-made from chopped shrimp meat (four 4-ounce patties per 16-ounce bag). The chemical- and preservative-free products are flash frozen within 24 hours of harvesting to ensure the freshest flavor and texture. SRPs are $11.99 to $15.99 for the Easy Peel Shrimp, $9.99 to $13.99 for the Peeled & Deveined Shrimp, and $12.99 to $17.99 for the Shrimp Burgers. 

 

Seafood Steamer Pot

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Beaver Street Fisheries adds a frozen Seafood Steamer Pot to its Sea Best (seabest.com) lineup. Part of the company’s Sea Best Seafood Festival collection, the New England-style boil includes shrimp, cold water lobster claws, clams and mussels combined with a special blend of seasonings. Offered in resealable 3-pound bags (five per case), the product carries a $24.99 SRP.

 

Smoked Sausage

New Orleans-based Zatarain’s (zatarains.com) adds a Blackened Seasoned Chicken flavor to its fully cooked Smoked Sausage collection. Inspired by a classic Cajun dish, the gluten-free newcomer is made with 100% antibiotic-free chicken and no artificial colors or flavors, animal byproducts or MSG. It’s seasoned with a variety of bold spices and can be used to create iconic New Orleans dishes such as jambalaya, red beans and rice, and gumbo. Sold refrigerated, each 14-ounce package (10 per case) carries a $4.99 SRP.
