FASTEST FROZEN
Sales of frozen products in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined hit $17.93 billion during the 12 weeks ended Sept. 4, up 9.4% compared with the same period a year ago, according to Chicago-based market research firm IRI (iriworldwide.com). However, unit sales tumbled 5.5% to 3.67 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended Sept. 4, dollar sales shot up 6.8% to $73.63 billion while unit sales fell 4.5% to
16.15 billion.

Only subcategories with at least $1 million in sales during the period are listed. Brand franchises with less than $250,000 in sales are not included.
FASTEST REFRIGERATED
During the 12 weeks ended Sept. 4, sales of refrigerated products in supermarkets, drugstores, mass merchants, military commissaries and select club and dollar stores combined topped $32.00 billion, a 12.7% increase versus the same period a year ago, reports Chicago-based market research firm IRI (iriworldwide.com). However, unit sales fell 3.2% to 8.03 billion.
For the 52 weeks ended Sept. 4, dollar sales jumped 8.8% to $132.52 billion while units dropped 2.6% to 35.63 billion.
