Results of the 2022 American Trucking Association Compensation Study confirm that an ongoing driver shortage is driving up wages for American truckers.
According to a comprehensive ATA survey, more than 90% of truckload fleets raised pay in 2021 (by an average of 10.9%), and the median truckload driver earned more than $69,000, up 18% from the previous year. Every less-than-truckload fleet surveyed raised pay in 2021, and the median wage hit $73,000. The median wage for drivers at private fleets was $85,000.
