MAERSK TO OPEN HOUSTON COLD CHAIN FACILIT

El Segundo, Calif.-based Performance Team, acquired by Maersk in April 2020, announced last month that it will build a 283,000-square-foot cold storage logistics facility near Houston in Baytown, Texas.

The facility will feature a 90-foot temperature-controlled loading dock, the largest in the logistics industry, according to the company, which says it will be able to stage more loads in preparation for domestic and international distribution. The facility offers easy access to the BNSF and Union Pacific rail lines, several major highways and nearby Port Houston.

Performance Team says it worked closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the facility’s design in an effort to ease pressure on inspectors facing increased cargo volumes.
