CEO Update has named Leslie Sarasin, CEO of the Food Industry Association (FMI), the 2021 Association CEO of the Year. For those with longish memories, Sarasin was president and CEO of the American Frozen Food Institute from 1989-2008.
FMI chairman Randy Edeker, chairman, president and CEO of Hy-Vee, Inc., praised Sarasin for her leadership, calling her “a committed collaborator.” Sarasin manages a $30 million budget and a staff of more than 75, as well as a board of directors of 85 industry executives.
Edeker said that among the results of her work are reconfigured bylaws. The bylaws broaden FMI’s membership potential while creating a board that is more representative of the industry. He added that she has also given staff an expanded vision of the scope and depth of its services.
FMI (fmi.org) is based in Arlington, Va. CEO Update (ceoupdate.com), a newsletter for associations and nonprofits, is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
