Cincinnati-based Graeter’s Ice Cream (graeters.com) launches its first-ever line of lactose-free vegan frozen desserts made with an innovative animal-free dairy protein developed by food technology startup Perfect Day (perfectdayfoods.com), Berkeley, Calif. “Virtually indistinguishable” from Graeter’s regular superpremium ice cream, Perfect Indulgence pints offer the same creaminess, mouthfeel and chocolate chunks the artisan brand is known for — and no soy, oatmeal, nut or coconut aftertaste. Available flavors include Cherry Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Oregon Strawberry, Chocolate and Chocolate Chip, all hand-crafted 2.5 gallons at a time. A second wave of flavors is expected later this month. The new collection will initially be available for purchase online (in six- and 12-packs). When it comes to supermarkets, pints are expected to retail for $7.99.
