Planterra Foods (, Lafayette, Colo., expands its OZO plant-based protein lineup with three new retail offerings made with a proprietary, soy-free blend of pea and rice protein fermented with shiitake mushrooms for enhanced flavor. OZO Italian Style Meatballs deliver 16 grams of protein per serving, while Breakfast Sausages (Original and Maple) offer up to 11 grams of protein per serving. Like all non-GMO, certified vegan OZO products, the newcomers contain no cholesterol and fewer calories and less fat and saturated fat than 80% lean ground beef — as well as many plant-based proteins currently on the market. The meatballs (in 12-count, 12-ounce trays) are packed six to a case and carry a $7.99 SRP while the sausages (in four-count, 7-ounce trays) come eight to a case with a $4.99 SRP.
