South Burlington, Vt.-based Ben & Jerry’s (benjerry.com) expands its line of non-dairy frozen desserts with a trio of “first-to-market” sunflower butter-based flavors. Described as an alternative to the company’s existing almond-based offerings, the super-premium pints come in three flavors: “Milk” & Cookies (vanilla with chocolate chip and chocolate sandwich cookie pieces plus chocolate cookie swirls), Crème Brûlée Cookie (burnt caramel with brown sugar cookies and salted caramel swirls) and Mint Chocolate Cookie (mint with chocolate sandwich cookie crumbles). Packed eight to a case, each 16-ounce pint will go for $4.39 to $5.99. Later this year, Ben & Jerry’s will also roll out Non-Dairy Mini Cups in two almond-based flavors: P.B. & Cookies and Caramel Chocolate Chunk. The 4-ounce, single-scoop cups (packed 12 to a case) are expected to retail for $1.00 to $1.99 apiece.
