Legion Logistics Is SmartWay Certified

Florence, KY – Legion Logistics, one of the region’s fastest growing third-party logistics providers, has earned SmartWay certification. The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay program helps companies advance supply chain sustainability by measuring freight transportation efficiency. This initiative of being a SmartWay Transport partner is designed to encourage companies like Legion to manage logistics in an environmentally friendly way.

In order to succeed in the SmartWay program, companies that carry and deliver goods measure their fuel efficiency and submit their data to the EPA. In doing so, companies then become partnered with SmartWay. By partnering with SmartWay, companies reduce fuel consumption and can improve their environmental footprint to help build a stronger bottom line. Since 2004, SmartWay and their partners, just like Legion Logistics, have saved over 7 billion gallons of fuel, lowered fuel costs by $24.9 billion and reduced carbon emissions by 72.8 million metric tons.

SmartWay partners meet customer and stockholder demands. In order to be SmartWay certified, companies must hold greater accountability, transparency, and risk reduction across their supply chains. Being a SmartWay partner helps you gain access to ways in which you can better your company by reducing the carbon footprint, demonstrating commitment to sustainability and showing measurable results and continuous improvement.

“We have always been interested in being SmartWay certified because we realize what a strain the logistics industry can have on the environment,” said Antony Coutsoftides, CEO and co-founder at Legion. “We see a lot of our own company’s values within SmartWay.”
